© Magindanau Conservation 2010 WELCOME TO MAGINDANAU CONSERVATION WEBSITE     We hope to make this website a one stop centre to everything you wish to know about  Sabah   (Borneo) marine turtles.   We’re excited to announce that we’ve Sea Turtle Conservation Program on the Selingan Island.We are expanding from  tourism site to volunteer tourism site recently. As known four species of sea turtles in the world can be found nesting on Malaysian shores: the olive-ridley turtle, the hawksbill turtle, the green turtle and the leatherback turtle. All of these are currently listed on the IUCN Red List as endangered. It is our duty to to work hand in hand to protect this endanger species. Selingan island is Turtle Islands National Park (Taman Negara Pulau Penyu) is located some 40 kilometers north of Sandakan in Sabah, east Malaysia. It consists of 3 islands -  Selingaan, Bakkungan Kechil and Gulisaan, including the surrounding coral reefs and ocean with unspoilt surroundings.  Selingan island is the most wonderful island compare with all island in all  over the world. WHY?? Because three types of turtles will ashore to Selingan island. They are green turtleshawksbill turtles and olive ridley turtles recently found started to ashore  to lay their eggs on the beaches of this islands. This three species of turtles will come ashore to lay eggs throughout the year, although the best months are between July to October every year.
